“Foundation For Christian Financial Fitness”

Foundational Scripture

Luke 6:48 (KJV) reads

He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock."

In this scripture, Jesus teaches his disciples about the benefits of listening to Him and obeying Him. He compares "hearing and doing the Word" to building a house on a solid foundation. He talks about the floods and streams beating on the house and its condition after the beating. Jesus does not promise that there won't ever be strong floods and streams beating on the house, but He does promise that due to building on the strong foundation, the house will not be shaken.

For the financially healthy church to not be shaken, we must both listen to and obey God's word as it relates to our finances. Applying biblical stewardship (through listening to the Word) and following a proper financial strategy (through obeying the Word) will be the way we "digged deep" to build our house. The alignment of members, leaders, and institution to God's word will be laying the foundation on a rock.

The floods of debt, taxes, spending, expansion, etc. will rise and beat upon the house, but we will be at a point where God's house will not be shaken. Building on this strong foundation will be the basis of how the church gives, serves, grows, and expands.
